MR. RIPLEY “PITCHED A NO NO” An Ode to Doc Ellis — The Pitcher Who Threw a No-Hitter Against All Odds

Rulerz Inc... presents “Pitched A No No,” the new EP from underground Hip Hop veteran Mr. Ripley—a project inspired by one of the most unbelievable stories in baseball history and the remarkable life of Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Doc Ellis.

Doc Ellis became legendary after reportedly throwing a no-hitter while under the influence of LSD. But beyond the legendary story was a man who battled addiction, alcoholism, personal struggles, and the consequences of his own choices.

More importantly, he overcame them.

That part of Doc Ellis's story is where Mr. Ripley finds the real inspiration.

“Pitched A No No” isn't simply an ode to a baseball player. It's a metaphor for anybody who has ever had to perform under pressure, battle their own demons, make mistakes, fall down, and somehow find the strength to get back on the mound.

Ripley takes that unbelievable chapter of sports history and flips it into raw, uncompromising Hip Hop—using Doc Ellis's journey as a backdrop for stories about struggle, survival, addiction, redemption, pressure, and overcoming the odds.

THE SOUND OF “PITCHED A NO NO”

The entire EP is fully produced by The 6th Man Entertainment's in-house production team, bringing together a powerhouse lineup of producers:

Murda Megs • Slvrbck Lauren • Shade Cobain • FreakShow • Van Gunz

Executive produced by The Bad Seed, the project delivers a cohesive sound built around hard drums, gritty textures, and the raw energy that underground Hip Hop heads demand.

Adding even more fire to the lineup, “Pitched A No No” features appearances from M.R. Senti and Crotona P, bringing two distinctive voices into Ripley's world and helping round out the EP's lyrical attack.

This is more than a baseball story.

It's about taking the mound when the odds are against you.

It's about the mistakes you make, the demons you face, and finding the strength to throw one more pitch.
